Nexus Determiniation

"Nexus" is the ability of a state to tax your business depending on the level of presence your business has in that state. Nexus can be established by a number of aspects, from whether your organization owns property in that state, to whether you have made just a handful of client visits. Due to the increase in technology-driven interstate commerce and the tightening of state budgets, states are becoming more aggressive in taxability determination of companies doing business in their state. As a multi-state tax consulting firm, State Tax Advisors can help you become compliant with the tax codes wherever nexus is determined.

If you are unsure about your nexus standings in the states you have conducted business, State Tax Advisors will research the state-by-state definitions of nexus to help you know in which states you will be liable for sales and use and/or franchise taxes.

Are you "doing business" in another state?

Can the state tax your transactions?

Where are you sourcing your sales?

A nexus study can answer these and other questions.

Once nexus is established, the state has the right to tax a company's income and/or privilege of conducting business in the state. If nexus is determined, State Tax Advisors can negotiate an anonymous voluntary disclosure agreement and/or research the availability of amnesty programs in order to reduce tax liabilities and obtain waivers of penalty and/or interest assessments.

Located just north of Houston in Kingwood, Texas, State Tax Advisors has helped businesses big and small save time and money on their state taxes. Call us today to see how we can help you.
